It’s simple to presume the New England Patriots are a every and each week but heading into Week 2 vs the Miami Dolphins, Odds Shark is monitoring a spread which we haven’t seen??since the 2011 season that is regular for the Pats. It’s the biggest spread for almost any NFL game because 2013.
The Patriots are??now -19-point favorites at BetOnline to overcome the Dolphins after opening as 14.5-point faves??with 67??percent of the money currently coming on the Pats.
That is New England’s largest spread as a favorite since 2011 when it??closed as 20-point dot versus the Colts and it’s??the Pats’??biggest spread for a fave for a street game in Odds Shark’s database when they were 19-point faves at 2007 vs the Ravens.??
Only three games have experienced spreads of 18 points or more as the Beginning of the 2010 year to put that in perspective of how big a spread this is:
Not my style to answer a question with a question but did you find Dolphins and that the Patriots play in Week 1? They seem like teams since the Pats defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers by 30 moving in completely opposite directions and the Dolphins lost to the Baltimore Ravens on their home area by 49.
The Patriots’ offense did not skip a beat in Week 1 and is expected to have a enormous boost with WR Antonio Brown coming to town. New England’s defense also looked by shut Pittsburgh down to only 3 points incredible.
Meanwhile, Miami looked like oddsmakers and a 52-man dumpster fire are kicking around the notion that the Dolphins might go 0-16 SU in 2019.
The 1 glaring fact that appears to be glossed over is the Patriots have fared in Miami in the last several decades. New England belongs to Miami every year and since 2013, the Pats have been 1-5 SU and ATS in six matches in South Beach (popping eye emoji!) .
In four games in Miami because 2016, the Patriots were favored by a touchdown or more with only one SU and ATS win to show for it (35-14 win since 7.5-point faves on January 1, 2017).
I’m not willing to state that New England will enter Miami and lose outright. That would be absurd. What I am stating is that expecting the Patriots to cover this large of a spread has not been a profitable undertaking.
They have been a fave of 18 points or more five occasions in the Brady-Belichick age and while they have won each match, the simple fact remains they failed to pay the spread every moment.
Watch yourself
Now, it’s well worth noting that a few of those games, in which the Patriots were big faves, was during their historical 2007 year when they finished 16-0 and demolished most of the league (before the Super Bowl, of course). But it nevertheless has merit when we’re referencing larger spreads that are historical.??
Check the Patriots-Dolphins Game Center page to monitor the betting odds out and see how big this spread grows from now until kickoff.
