Davide Zappacosta suffered a knee injury together with Roma in a training session on Friday which could bring an early end to his loan move from Chelsea, based on Sky in Italy.
The 27-year-old combined the Serie A club in the summer with an option to extend the agreement before the end of the season.
Roma fear the full-back endured.
Zappacosta had suffered a calf injury at the warm-up into Romas derby clash against Lazio in September which kept him sidelined for a month.
Hes made only one appearance for Roma as a second-half substitute in the 3-3 draw with Genoa on the beginning day of the year.
