Sebastian Vettel admits Monza is your location Ferrari has to”overdeliver” as they bid to end their victory drought at their home grand prix.
The past GP victory in 2010, when Fernando Alonso acquired of the Scuderia, means they have gone eight races with no home achievement – .
But armed with the fastest car in a direct line of F1 2019 for the year’s fastest circuit, on which greater than 160mph is averaged by cars, Vettel is optimistic that the winners of last week’s Cabinet GP are well prepared.
“We’ve been on the podium a few occasions, but not on the very first step,” explained Vettel, that has finished second once and third two in Monza since joining Ferrari four years back.

“it is a large thing. It is the race to us, no doubt. It’s a huge weekend. Yesterday we saw the fire [at an occasion in Milan] that there is and I am sure that we will see throughout the weekend. I am convinced it’ll give an increase to us.
“Here is the opportunity to overdeliver and it’s a huge weekend. We can make it count that time. We have a chance, so we’ll see. We are ready.”
But Vettel cautioned:”We are not the clear favourites. There are indications we aware of that put us in a great place, but I believe we have to be carefully optimistic and realistic.
“One lap is 1 thing but there are a whole great deal of laps on Sunday. In addition, the weather plus, plus, plus…”
Even with Ferrari enjoying a edge at Spa over Mercedes, Charles Leclerc finished just one second before Lewis Hamilton at the race’s end – while Vettel slipped behind both Silver Arrows into fourth.
“We’ve observed the trend that in qualifying we appear to get a little bit of an edge on these kinds of tracks, whereas in the race that which moves very close together,” additional Vettel, who also said that Ferrari have”some details and some answers” because of his car’s difficulties at Spa.
“They [Mercedes] were really quick last weekend, therefore I hope the main challenge to be looking after the tyres and locating the correct set-up and equilibrium in the car to feel comfy to extract the maximum. I guess it’ll be very tight.”
Leclerc included:”Mercedes was quite striking with their race pace.”
Leclerc’confident’ after win
At the circuit believed the home of the Tifosi, Leclerc arrives as a Ferrari driver for the first time by securing his maiden Grand Prix win, fresh.
The 21-year-old, who had suffered several success near-misses before last Sunday this year, also told Sky Sports F1:”There’s just a bit more optimism. You feel now you can take action, which is great.
“The win constantly feels quite far away until you get it on course. So it seems great but on the other hand I want to stay calm and as focused as I was earlier because the time isn’t ending here and there are many, many more races and we need to execute very well for the remainder of the year.
“So I’m very focused here for Monza.”
Describing how it felt to be among just two Ferrari drivers at Monza, Leclerc said it”feels astonishing” and that it was “beyond what I ever imagined would happen to me”.
