Sebastian Vettel admits Monza is the location Ferrari must”overdeliver” because they bid to end their victory drought in their home grand prix.
When Fernando Alonso won the Scuderia’s final GP success in 2010, means they’ve gone eight races – fitting their longest winless streak from 1980-1987.
But armed forces for the season circuit, on which automobiles average more than 160mph with the quickest car in a direct line of F1 2019, Vettel is optimistic that the winners of last week’s Belgian GP are well prepared.
“We’ve been on the podium a few occasions, but not at the top step,” explained Vettel, who has finished second once and third twice in Monza since linking Ferrari four decades ago.

“It’s a huge thing. It’s the race to us. It is a big weekend. We saw the passion [at an occasion in central Milan] there is and I’m certain that we’ll see during the weekend. I am sure it will give us a boost.
“Here is the time to overdeliver and it is a big weekend. Hopefully we can make it count that time. We’ve got a good opportunity, so we’ll notice. We’re prepared.”
However, Vettel warned:”We are not the obvious favourites. There are signs of this place us in a great place we aware, but I think we have to be realistic and carefully optimistic.
“One lap is one thing but there are a lot of laps on Sunday. Additionally, the weather plus, plus, and…”
Despite Ferrari enjoying a sizable advantage Charles Leclerc still finished just one second ahead of Lewis Hamilton at the conclusion of the race – although Vettel slipped to fourth.
“We have seen the tendency that at qualifying we look to have a bit of an edge on these kinds of tracks, whereas at the race everything goes very close together,” added Vettel, who said that Ferrari have”some details and a few replies” for his automobile difficulties at Spa.
“They [Mercedes] were quite fast last weekend so I hope the major challenge to be taking care of the automobile and locating the proper set up and equilibrium in the automobile to feel comfy to extract the max. I guess it will be very tight.”
Leclerc included:”Mercedes was very impressive with their race speed.”
Leclerc’more confident’ after first win
In the circuit believed the home of the Tifosi, Leclerc arrives as a Ferrari driver to the very first time by securing his maiden Grand Prix win, fresh.
The 21-year-old, that had endured several victory near-misses before last Sunday this season, and told Sky Sports F1:”There definitely a little bit more optimism. You truly feel you can get it done, which is great.
“The primary win constantly feels very far away until you receive it on course. Therefore it feels great but on the other hand I want to keep calm as concentrated as I was before since the time isn’t finish here and you will find many, many more races and we will need to execute well for the rest of the season.
“So I’m very focused here to Monza.”
Describing how it felt to become among just two Ferrari drivers at Monza, Leclerc said it”feels astonishing” and that it was already”beyond what I ever imagined could happen to me”.
