Ben Whiteman’s late penalty secured a success for Doncaster as they came from behind to defeat Rotherham 2-1 in the Keepmoat Stadium.
On-loan Jake Hastie had delivered the Millers into the break a goal up as the match turned on its mind, until skipper Whiteman struck by 12 metres two minutes from time but veteran James Coppinger equalised.
After a cagey opening, littered fouls, Millers shield Michael Ihiekwe headed Ben Wiles’ corner wide, but they were after 37 minutes.
Kazaiah Sterling gave a foolish foul on Wiles off 25 metres from goal and on-loan Hastie whipped at a that sailed over everyone and conquer the unsighted Ian Lawlor in the Rovers goal.
Just after the break, former Miller Jon Taylor headed Alfie May’s cross over before Ben Sheaf’s volley from just outside the box was brilliantly saved by Lewis Price.
This bout of pressure led with sub Niall Ennis’ great job by the byline leading to a cross which was met first time by Coppinger, that put enough on his shot to beat Price.
With the Rotherham keeper saving non from Reece James taylor analyzed Price from distance.
Ennis attracted another save from Price ahead of the sub won.
Price was confidently sent the incorrect way from the spot as the rights rights were claimed by Doncaster by whiteman.
