England all-rounder Ben Stokes and his mother have launched legal actions against sunlight newspaper after it released a front-page story reporting a family tragedy from more than three years ago.
The cricketer lambasted the newspaper when it printedincredibly painful, sensitive and individual information about his family last month, beating it asentirely disgusting.
Proceedings in the High Court were filed on September 30, based on Byline Investigates, according to News Group Newspapers (NGN) – The Suns parent company.
The situation is listed as a intellectual property claim linked to copyright.
A representative of The Sun declined to comment.
The story on September 17 concerned a family catastrophe involving the 28-year-olds mother, Deborah Stokes.
In a post on Twitter – that received tens of thousands of retweets, likes and supportive comments – Stokes said a reporter had turned up at his parents home in New Zealandfrom the blue to inquire them concerning the tragedy.
The Sun replied that it had contacted Stokes prior to printing the report andat no stage did their agents ask us not to release the story.
It reported in its narrative that the couple and the cricketer had declined to comment.
